Free the children who enter PAUD to play with their peers, explore the new world that is outside the family home, and control their thoughts and emotions well. We can learn from Singapore, which has even begun to encourage the existence of happy schools which abolish value competition and encourage competency to work together. This is applied not only in PAUD, but also in universities.
Armed with the Manifesto for Positive Education, this neighboring city-state emphasizes the balance between academic achievement and the child's growth potential. Success can be achieved without having to sacrifice the mind and body sanity.
According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, schools should aim to make children happy. According to Socrates, happiness can be taught in schools that are a microcosm society. Children can learn about ethical and moral values, skills, and behavior plus interactions with peers. It is this social relationship which according to Confucius becomes a "source" of happiness.
Furthermore, Aristotle stated that happiness depends on the ability of children to manage their character in friendship, apply a sense of justice, and become good citizens. According to Johann Pestalozzi, known as "the father of modern pedagogy", education must focus on the child as a whole (whole child) in order to achieve results that go beyond academic achievement, but also physical, mental, and psychological growth of children.
In other words, we educate three elements: head (cognitive), heart (emotion), and hand (physical). Japanese thinker, Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, said that education is considered successful if it is able to guide children to be educated in achieving happiness.
